This week for Canningvale Tips, we thought we'd offer an insight into The Secret Life of a Textiler!

Have you ever wondered why, with stringent quality assurance procedures and management, how a faulty product could pass inspection controls? This is because the majority of these faults remain invisible and undetected until their first or second wash. Therefore some issues can appear after use at home.

Take fraying towel edges for example; unfortunately fraying occurs when an inaccurate selvedge width is inserted in the high speed folder of the automatic sewing machine.

This causes a malfunction whereby the hem looks perfect from the outside, while internally the needle has missed the innermost fold of the selvedge.

Under washing stress, the wet pile body of the towel is much heavier than the plain cloth hem, thus applying considerable stretching pressure on the stitching as it tumbles inside the washing machine.

This pressure results in the hem "bursting" open and fraying.

This fault is undetectable by inspection, so it is prevented for the vast majority of production through good controls and judicious management. In order to stamp out all faulty items, we would need to wash and test each towel before selling - and we wouldn't want you, the customer, to receive second-hand goods!

This is why Canningvale offer a comprehensive FREE 2 Year Warranty on all textile products. We offer peace of mind so that, in the unfortunate and rare event that you receive a faulty product, you know you will be covered under the 2 Year Warranty and eligible to receive replacements.
