Watching the best films of the year take away the coveted golden statues that are the Oscars, last week was definitely an event that captured our attention. Every year the stars are judged on best and worst dressed and it seemed that this year, sequins and sparkles took the cake. Nicole Kidman was stunning in a contrasting black and gold gown, but our personal favourite was Naomi Watts' gun-metal coloured asymmetrical dress.

Pantone introduced Emerald as the colour of 2013, though there are still many shades of green dominating home decor. It's always exciting to review the latest reports from Stylesight - the online trend analysis and forecasting site we subscribe to. There is consistently so much content, it's difficult to know what to look at first and, even if I have a mission at hand, I inevitably find myself on fascinating segues every time.

Today I'm looking through the trade show section - in particular, the latest in prints and graphics from the recent Printsource and Indigo trade shows, both held in New York over January. Printsource is more of a showcase for emerging textile and surface pattern designs from leading studios and designers whilst Indigo shows a combination of print and textile designs both from production (manufacturers) and from design studios. Both of these New York shows are aimed at America's major manufacturers and retailers.
